Toronto Loses Iconic Eatery: Top Gun Burgers Closes After 10 Years

Toronto is bidding farewell to one of its most memorable dining spots — Top Gun Burgers, renowned for its outrageous burgers. After a decade of operation, the original location on Augusta Avenue in Kensington Market has announced its closure.

Founded in 2015, this burger joint quickly gained popularity among fast-food enthusiasts with a unique theme based on the “Top Gun” movies. The menu featured crowd-pleasers such as the F35 Mac, Hellcat Cheese Burger, and Maverick Burger, attracting patrons with its variety and generous portions.

Over the past decade, the chain expanded, reaching a peak of five locations across the city and the Greater Toronto Area by early 2025. However, earlier this week, the Top Gun Burgers team took to Instagram to share the unexpected news of closing their flagship location in Kensington Market.

“After 10 amazing years of serving this incredible community, it’s time for us to say goodbye,” the post reads. “We want to thank each and every one of you for your support, loyalty, and the unforgettable memories we’ve created together. It’s been a true honor to be a part of your lives.”

The final day of business was on March 13, and according to Google, the space has already been taken over by a new shawarma business. There has yet to be any comment regarding the reasons for the closure or potential changes at other locations in the Annex, Scarborough, Vaughan, or Mississauga.

Top Gun Burgers Kensington was located at 251 Augusta Avenue. Stay tuned for updates!
